## Beyond price

- **Space:** catamarans have more cabins and a large shared saloon and cockpit, so the per-person cost gap narrows with a full boat.
- **Comfort:** a catamaran sails flat; a monohull heels. People prone to seasickness often prefer catamarans at anchor.
- **Sailing feel:** monohulls point higher upwind and many sailors find them more rewarding to sail.
- **Deposit:** The Globe Sailor gives €2,000–3,000 for a sailing yacht versus €4,000–10,000 for a catamaran ([The Globe Sailor](https://www.theglobesailor.com/blog/what-it-really-costs-to-charter-a-yacht), checked 28 Oct 2026).
