Among the areas where we have fuel, marina and extras figures, a week's catamaran charter is cheapest per person for 6 people in Croatia in March at €987–1,127 and priciest in Ibiza in July at €2,312–2,452 (our arithmetic: 12 Knots' average weekly price plus fuel, 6 marina nights, mandatory extras and food at €20–40 a day, bareboat). Fuel, marina fees and extras are not verified for the BVI, the Bahamas, Thailand and Belize, so their totals cover only the charter and food.

Checked 28 Oct 2026. Charter prices are 12 Knots' asking prices (mix of bareboat and crewed); extras are The Globe Sailor's September 2026 figures; taxes and fees are labelled official, secondary or not verified. Totals are our arithmetic and exclude flights, drinks and the refundable deposit.

What a charter week adds to the price

A charter quote is only the start. A realistic weekly budget adds fuel, marina fees, mandatory extras, food, possibly a skipper and, on crewed yachts, an APA and tips.

The Globe Sailor's table does not state a period for every column: the skipper fee is per day and the port fee per night (read from the article text); fuel per week is our reading. The generic tourist tax range above is not used in our totals: on each destination page we add a tax only where we could verify a euro rate for charter guests.

Crewed charters: APA and tips

On a crewed charter the APA (advance provisioning allowance) of about 25–35% of the charter fee for sailing yachts and catamarans covers food, drink, fuel and port fees (Helm, checked 27 Oct 2026), so those lines leave the bill. A crew gratuity of 10–20% is customary (Worth Avenue Yachts, checked 27 Oct 2026). We show no crewed total: 12 Knots' averages mix bareboat and crewed listings, so "charter + APA" would mislead. See crewed vs bareboat and bareboat vs skippered.

How we add it up

Bareboat total = 12 Knots' average weekly price for the month + fuel + 6 marina nights + mandatory extras + any verified per-person-per-night tax in euros × people × 7 + food at €20 (low) to €40 (high) per person per day for 7 days. A skippered total adds 7 × the destination's skipper day rate; the skipper is not counted as a guest. Lines that are not verified, or not in euros, are shown but never added, and the total is called partial. Park fees depend on your route and are never added. All-in = charter + fuel per week + 6 marina nights + mandatory extras + food at €20 per person per day for 8 people. Inputs are The Globe Sailor's September 2026 catamaran figures (The Globe Sailor, checked 28 Oct 2026) (fuel per week and port fee per night are our reading of its table); the sums are our arithmetic. We include no tourist tax yet because we could not verify a per-night euro rate for charter guests. Drinks, park fees, flights and the refundable deposit are not included. Full method: methodology. How to read the labels

  • [Secondary source]: From a newspaper, law firm, travel site or charter company; not official.
  • [Not verified]: We could not confirm it. We leave it open rather than guess, and never add it to a total.
  • No label: Read in an official text: government, port or park authority, ministry, or an operator's own published tariff.

Charter prices are 12 Knots' asking prices and cost lines are The Globe Sailor's, so most lines are secondary. Totals, per-person figures, APA amounts and ranges are our arithmetic. Amounts in other currencies are shown as published and never converted or added.
